Support veterans, first responder, and front-line medical workers by participating in a 12.9 mile "ruck march" along the beautiful Meadowlark Trail on September 12 beginning at 8:00am. March alongside veterans, first responders, and community members.
The Meadowlark March is an untimed event and will take place on uneven ground, inclines, and narrow sections. It is not recommended for wheelchairs or those with significant mobility limitations. This march is meant for reflection; participants can walk, run, or "ruck," but it is not a race.
Trained service animals, as defined by the ADA, are welcome. No pets or bicycles are allowed.
There is also a shorter family friendly "reflective walk" that is just 2.2 miles that begins at 10am and ends in the park Registration begins at 9am. This is a loop route and does not require any transportation from the park. Walk, jog, or bring a trail friendly stroller. No bikes please. Upon returning to Riverside Park there will be some fun treats for all our walk participants courtesy of the Lindsborg Old Mill & Swedish Heritage Museum. The registration for this event does not include a t-shirt but there is an option to purchase adult sizes.
Proceeds raised will go to benefit the non-profit organization The Battle Within. Their mission is to break down barriers and provide all veterans, first responders, and front-line medical workers the mental and behavioral health support they need. This includes retreats for these individuals at no cost to them. Find out more at www.thebattlewithin.org.
Check in will take place at Riverside Park in Lindsborg in waves starting at 8:00am on the day of the event. These waves will be from 8:00am until noon. This allows for a safe walk for all participants and gives organizers the ability to get all participants to the trail head in groups. Marchers will be transported in groups to the trail head in McPherson by van.
One week before the march, you will receive an approximate wave time. Please arrive no later than 30 minutes before your wave time to complete check in.
***Liability forms and waivers are required to be signed at check in by all participants.
***This is a rain or shine event and there will be no refunds issued. This is a fundraiser. If you are unable to attend the event and you had a ticket that included a t-shirt, we will ship it to you in the week following the event at no additional cost.
There will be hydration and snack stops along the route hosted by local businesses and community organizations. These check points will also have first aid resources and transportation if needed. Once our participants reach the end of the trail, they will arrive back at Riverside Park in Lindsborg for a meal courtesy of American Legion Post 140 Lindsborg.
This event is not timed. You do not have to use a ruck sack to participate. Walking or jogging is allowed, but bikes will not be allowed as there is no way to transport them to the trailhead.
Those who cannot attend are welcome to make a donation in honor of a military member or first responder. There is an option for it in the ticket section. But all donations are welcome. The names of these honored individuals will be displayed on a banner on the Valkommen bridge, and all participants will pass it on their way into the park.
Every registration to this event will bring us closer to achieving our mission. Together, we can help create healing for those who have given so much for all of us. Thank you for supporting our mission, your support is invaluable.
