Sample Itinerary:
Friday:
Roll into town and relax visiting the art galleries first:
Small World Gallery, exhibits the work of Jim Richardson, National Geographic photographer and owner. Also, jewelry designs by Kathy Richardson and Brianna Zimmerling.
Visit with an Artist-in-Residence and ask about available workshops at the Red Barn Studio Museum, finalist in the 8 Wonders of Kansas! Art category.
Hemslöjd’s Dala Horse Factory, winner in 8 Wonders of Kansas! Commerce category.
Pick up “Art in Public Places Self-Guided Tour” brochure and search out all the various mediums Lindsborg artists work in.
Now it is time for dinner at Öl Stuga (translated Ale House). Belly up to the bar and order the famous award-winning Brent Nelson Sandwich. Polish sausage, BBQ sauce with two (count ‘em) types of cheese: smoky sharp and hot pepper cheese served warm on a submarine. Put some tunes on the jukebox and join the locals for poker, rounds of cribbage or pool.
Check into one of our premier lodging establishments located in Lindsborg:
Saturday:
Off to the Lindsborg Golf Course where we invite you to enjoy one of the hidden treasures of the Smoky Valley. The Lindsborg Golf Course (LGC) is a manicured 64 acre, 9 hole municipal course located southeast of Lindsborg at 1541 Svensk Road. Book tee times at (785) 227-2244.
Grab a to-go lunch from the White's Foodliner Deli and head out to Coronado Heights. Bring your boots; bring your bike. Don’t forget your camera. Coronado Heights trails are open to the public year round for hiking and biking. Coronado Heights is a prominent, isolated hill 300 feet above the Smoky Hill River valley. The eroded face of Coronado Heights reveals a panorama of geological history, covering thousands of years of time. At its base are gray and red shales that made up the floor of an ancient salt water sea. At the top is the Dakota Sandstone, a mixture of marine, fresh water and subtropical fossil material.
Drive a bit south to Smoky Valley Shooting Sports. With a combined 45 years of experience, Smoky Valley Shooting Sports is here to take care of the serious target shooter, hunter and waterfowler.
Dine at Crown & Rye, Happy Swede Restaurant, or China.
Sunday:
Rise and shine for a jog on the Välkommen Trail. Breakfast at The White Peacock Coffee Shop.
Off then to explore the Prairie Trail Byway:
Start with a tour of the bison/elk herd at Maxwell Game Preserve outside of Canton. Throw a line in for a largemouth bass or channel catfish.
Return to Lindsborg on the byway for spicy, flavorful lunch at Jalisco's Mexican Restaurant.
Head west on the byway to Marquette and visit The Kansas Motorcycle Museum, home to over 100 vintage and rare motorcycles of all various makes and models.
Finish the byway exploration at Kanopolis State Park for 25 miles of hiking or bait/fly fishing.
Make a definite “catch” with some espresso at The White Peacock Coffee Shop before heading home.
