Musicians, young, old, amateur, professional, group or solo: bring your instruments, your voice, your kazoo! The Red Barn Studio Museum will once again take part in Play Music on the Porch Day, on August 29. This international celebration invites musicians of all ages and backgrounds to step outside and share music with their community.
There is no fee to participate, but registration is required. Time slots will be assigned 11:00am-4:00pm in 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes. Register by emailing raymer@redbarnstudio.org
How did this event come to be? It started as an idea…Brian Mallman, in 2014 thought, "What if for one day everything stopped? And we all just listened to the music." Mallman decided to share this idea with the world, and the idea spread even faster than Mallman could have ever imagined.
In 2018, thousands of musicians from at least 70 countries and thousands of cities participated and the movement continues to grow every day. Musicians from across the globe, are finding common ground through music.
Play Music On The Porch Day knows that music is powerful and universal. Play an oud, a guitarrón, a nyckelharpa, a guitar, or whatever, the world disappears once the music starts.
Music goes beyond words. It can transcend the most difficult barriers. It ties us together like a thread through our hearts. Our skin is many colors but music is in our blood, our bones and our soul.
Gather at the Red Barn Studio Museum on the last Saturday in August as talents, passions, and music are shared. See the power of music demonstrated as all gather to create beautiful sounds.
The Red Barn Studio Museum is located at 212 S. Main Street. The museum is open Tuesday-Friday, 10:00am-5:00pm and Saturday-Sunday, 1:00-5:00pm.
